Vintage Star Wars figurine sells for record price at auction

Experts believe that this is the most expensive rare figurine in the world.

The valuable lot turned out to be a Bobba Fett figurine from the Star Wars space saga. It went under the hammer for $525 thousand. According to representatives of the Heritage Auctions auction site, this is the most expensive figurine in the world, made based on any film franchise.

The figure itself was produced in 1979. Initially, they wanted to put the toy into mass production, but then it was decided to abandon this idea. It’s all about safety: Boba Fett has a weapon on his back in the form of a rocket launcher that can fire. The creators decided that a shot of ammunition hitting the nose or mouth could cause suffocation.

Now there are a league of two copies of such a figurine. It is noteworthy that it is hand-painted. The appearance leaves much to be desired, but according to experts, the high price tag of the toy is quite due.

According to Heritage Auctions, this figurine has become the most expensive vintage figurine in the world. Previously, a record amount was paid for a Barbie doll encrusted with a diamond: in 2010, it went under the hammer for $302 thousand.
