Xiaomi Removes Software Power Limit for SU7 Ultra Following Customer Complaints
- AYG -The Chinese manufacturer has decided to remove the artificial power limitation for its flagship SU7 Ultra electric car, which was previously installed for safety reasons. Initially, the system limited the output power to 900 hp instead of the declared 1,548 hp, requiring owners to pass a qualifying run on a certified track to fully unlock the car’s potential.

Additional safety measures included a 60-second delay before the possibility of a sharp start from a standstill, which was supposed to prevent dangerous situations in urban conditions. Xiaomi Auto emphasized that such restrictions were introduced solely to ensure the safety of both SU7 Ultra owners and other road users, recommending extreme driving only on specialized tracks.

However, buyers who paid about $ 73,000 for a high-performance electric car expressed dissatisfaction with such restrictions, believing that for such money they should receive full access to all the car’s capabilities without additional conditions. Under pressure from its customer base, the company released a firmware update that removed the power restrictions, although it continues to recommend caution when driving off-track.
