Xiaomi 16 to Set New Battery Capacity Record in Its Class

According to Chinese insider Smart Pikachu, the upcoming Xiaomi 16 flagship will receive a record-breaking battery capacity among smartphones of its form factor. The future device with a 6.3-inch display will surpass the current segment leader OnePlus 13T, equipped with a 6260 mAh battery with similar display dimensions (6.32 inches). For comparison, the previous Xiaomi 15 model had a 5240 mAh battery.

The insider also revealed other details of the future flagship device: extremely thin frames around the entire perimeter of the screen, a lightweight body and a triple main camera with 50-megapixel sensors. Of particular interest is the appearance of a periscope telephoto lens in the basic version, which was previously typical only for Pro models. The latest second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to be used as a processor.

The official presentation of the Xiaomi 16 series is scheduled for October 2024. If the information is confirmed, the new product could set a new standard for battery life among compact flagships.
