Xiaomi 16 to be one of the first smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor

Xiaomi and Qualcomm have announced the extension of their long-term partnership, under which the Chinese manufacturer will continue to use flagship Snapdragon chips in its devices. The first smartphones with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor will be the Xiaomi 16 series models, including the basic and Pro versions, which will be released both in the Chinese and global markets.

At the same time, the senior models of the series – Xiaomi 16S Pro and 16 Ultra – will receive Xiaomi’s proprietary XRING O1 processor. The company’s CEO Lei Jun emphasized the strategic importance of cooperation with Qualcomm, noting the common goals of creating innovative premium products. This decision reflects Xiaomi’s desire to strengthen its position in the high-end smartphone segment, combining the power of Snapdragon processors with the brand’s unique hardware and software developments.
