Windows 11 Updates Notepad with Word-Like Formatting Features
9 3

Microsoft has introduced a significant update to the default Notepad app in Windows 11, adding previously unavailable text formatting capabilities. Users can now apply bold and italic formatting, create bulleted and numbered lists via a new toolbar, and use the Clear Formatting button to quickly return to the original text view.

While some users on social networks expressed dissatisfaction, believing that the new features violate the minimalist philosophy of Notepad, the developers have provided the ability to completely disable formatting in the application settings. Microsoft especially emphasizes that the added features do not affect performance – the application retains its traditional lightness and does not increase the consumption of system resources.

This update continues a series of modernizations of classic Windows applications, demonstrating Microsoft’s desire to adapt even the simplest tools to the modern needs of users, while preserving their core functionality.
