The Saints Row series was once considered a worthy alternative to GTA, offering players crazy gameplay and unconventional solutions. However, the reboot of the franchise ended in failure, and Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch explained what went wrong.

According to him, the main problem was not a lack of funds, but a lack of a clear vision among the developers. Despite the high budget, the studio did not understand what kind of game it wanted to create, which led to failure.

Karch also noted that the industry is facing a wider problem. Many publishers are used to the fact that large investments in projects almost always pay off, but this strategy has stopped working. He emphasized that games with 9-figure budgets that bring in 8-figure revenues lead to mass layoffs and a crisis in the industry.

In the meantime, Saber Interactive continues to work on new projects, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3. However, how successful they will be, only time will tell.
