UK Police Seize Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Stolen Pokemon Cards

In Greater Manchester, police officers have uncovered a major case of theft of rare collectible cards from the Pokemon universe. During a raid in the Hyde Park area, law enforcement officers detained a man whose house turned out to have a whole warehouse of stolen cards. Judging by the condition of the finds, a significant part of the collection is still sealed in the original packaging, which maintains their high market value.

The estimated value of the confiscated cards is about 250 thousand pounds sterling, which is equivalent to approximately 330 thousand dollars. Now the police are trying to identify the owners of valuable copies and return the stolen property to them.

The incident has become yet another confirmation of how profitable, and sometimes dangerous, the hobby of collectible card games can be. Such thefts occur not only in the UK – earlier, for example, in Japan, a representative of the yakuza was detained, suspected of a similar crime related to Pokemon TCG cards.
