Twisted Metal is back: the second season of the action series starts on July 31

The Peacock streaming service has officially announced the premiere date of the second season of Twisted Metal, a series based on the famous PlayStation gaming franchise. New episodes will appear in the platform’s catalog on July 31, 2024, and an intriguing teaser for the sequel was published along with the announcement.

What will the new season be about?

In the second part of the story, courier John (Anthony Mackie) and his partner Tikhona (Stephanie Beatriz) will have to take part in a deadly tournament organized by the mysterious Calypso. The heroes will have to fight crazy opponents, including the legendary clown Sweet Tooth, and also deal with personal dramas – in particular, the unexpected return of John’s missing sister.

In addition to Mackie and Beatriz, the project also stars Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Anthony Carrigan (Gotham), and Tiana Okoye (The Understudy). The first season, released in 2023, received 67% approval from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 93% positive ratings from viewers.

What to expect from the sequel?

The creators promise even more crazy car battles, dark humor and unexpected plot twists in the best traditions of the original games. Fans of the franchise are especially looking forward to the appearance of new iconic characters from the Twisted Metal universe.
