Take-Two Continues to Block GTA: Vice City Modders – Now on Telegram
- AYG -T2 Interactive continues to actively fight against enthusiasts who create mods for projects of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. This time, the Telegram channel of the Revolution Team, which worked on the Nextgen Edition modification for GTA: Vice City, came under attack. The community, which consisted of over 9 thousand people, was blocked an hour after a complaint was received about copyright infringement.
This is not the first major blocking that has affected modders in a short period of time. Shortly before the release of Nextgen Edition, the company managed to remove the developers’ YouTube channel, but the developers still released the mod for free access. This practice is part of a broader policy at Take-Two and Rockstar Games: earlier in January, the studio halted development of the Liberty City Preservation Project, which was transferring the GTA IV metropolis to the GTA V engine.
Former Rockstar North employee Obbe Vermeij noted that such actions are inevitable, since the publisher and developers protect their commercial interests, even if it hits the fan community.
