Sydney Sweeney to Lead Cast of Split Fiction Adaptation
- AYG -Following the news of the OutRun movie in the works, Sydney Sweeney continues to dive into the world of game adaptations — the actress has landed the lead role in the film adaptation of the co-op hit Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios. According to Variety, Sweeney will not only play one of the two central characters — Mio or Zoe — but will also serve as a producer on the project.

The script for the film will be written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on Deadpool and Wolverine and the Zombieland duology. Jon M. Chu, the creator of the musical Wicked, will direct. Released in March 2025, Split Fiction captivated audiences with its unusual co-op gameplay, although the story about writers stuck in a virtual simulation received mixed reviews.

The exact dates for the start of filming and the release of the film have not yet been revealed, but the participation of the star of Euphoria and an experienced film crew makes this project one of the most anticipated game adaptations. It remains to be seen whether the creators will be able to convey the signature style and dynamics of the original game on the screen.
