Fans of the Witcher saga have become targets for scammers sending out fake offers to participate in the beta testing of The Witcher 4. CD Projekt RED has officially warned players about such schemes and urged them not to fall for the scam.

The studio confirmed that fake emails and messages with invitations to test the fourth part have appeared online. The developers emphasize that no open testing is currently being conducted, and all such mailings are an attempt at fraud. The company is already taking steps to block such messages, but also asks users to independently report suspicious offers through mail services and social networks.

Recall that The Witcher 4 (the working title of the project is Polaris) is in active development – more than 400 studio employees are working on the game. The first trailer for the project was shown in December 2022, but the release is still far away. In parallel, CD Projekt RED continues to work on other major projects, including the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

Cybersecurity experts recommend that players be especially attentive to such mailings and not follow suspicious links that could lead to data leakage or infection of devices with malware. Official information about the game testing will be published only through CD Projekt RED’s verified communication channels.
