Rumor: Sony to release re-releases of old God of War games

Remasters may be available for six games in the series.

The Need4Games website, citing insider Lunatic Ignus, reports that Sony is working on remasters of old games in the God of War franchise about the ancient Greek era. The list of possible remasters will thus include the original trilogy, as well as spin-offs Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta and Ascension.

According to unconfirmed reports, Nixxes Software, the studio responsible for PC ports of such PlayStation exclusives as Marvel’s Spider-Man and its spin-off Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and other games, is responsible for developing the projects.

The announcement of the remasters may take place in March 2025, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the series. There is no official information about this yet.

The original God of War trilogy and its spin-offs tell about ancient Greek mythology. The events of the games take place in Ancient Greece, where Kratos decides to take revenge on the gods of Olympus.
