Rumor: HBO has started production on The Last of Us season 3
- AYG -Collider, citing information from Production Bulletin, reported that HBO has already begun work on a sequel to its popular show. The production is in pre-production, and filming is scheduled for next summer.
Filming will take place in Vancouver and other cities in British Columbia. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who worked on the first two parts of the show, will return to work.
Craig Mazin previously noted that adapting the events of The Last of Us: Part 2 within one season could be too difficult a task. He even hinted that the story could stretch not only to a third, but also to a fourth season. But there is no official confirmation of further plans yet.
The release of the 2nd season of the series is scheduled for spring 2025, the exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
Along with this, at The Game Awards 2024, Naughty Dog studio revealed the release date of The Last of Us: Part 2 remaster for PC: it will happen on April 3, 2025, right next to the release of the 2nd season of the show.
