Rockstar Shuts Down Mod That Brings Liberty City From GTA 4 To GTA 5

The Liberty City Preservation Project (LCPP) mod, which recreates the city of Liberty City from GTA 4 in GTA 5, has been closed. The mod’s authors said that the decision to stop development was made after consultations with Rockstar Games.

The mod was freely available for only about a month. The developers from the World Travel team explained the closure by unexpected attention to their project, which led to interference from the copyright holders.

This is not the first time Rockstar has restricted the activities of modders associated with the GTA franchise. Previously, such actions by the company were associated with the possible development of re-releases of classic games in the franchise. However, despite the release of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition in 2021, the GTA 4 remaster was not announced at all.
