Rockstar may bring back GTA 4 and Max Payne 3 in an updated form – an insider told about the studio’s plans
- AYG -Rockstar Games is rumored to be working on remasters of two iconic games — Grand Theft Auto 4 and Max Payne 3. This was reported by the well-known insider Tez2, who has repeatedly provided reliable information about the studio’s projects. According to him, the re-releases are already in production and will be adapted for modern consoles. The first in line is GTA 4, the release of which may occur closer to the end of 2025. Some hints about the development of this port, according to the insider, have already slipped through behind the scenes of the company, and the recent removal of a popular user mod that transferred Liberty City to Grand Theft Auto 5 could be associated with the preparation of the official version.

The project, according to rumors, has been in the works for about a year, and it is possible that its launch will be tied to the future GTA 6. In particular, the updated GTA 4 may focus on Liberty City — the hometown of the mother of the main character Lucia Caminos. Thus, the remaster may become a kind of introduction to the new part of the series.

After the release of GTA 4 in a new guise, the studio will presumably re-release Max Payne 3. Tez2 suggests that we may not just talk about a remaster, but about a full-fledged collection, including remakes of the first two parts and an updated third. If this information is confirmed, the release of the compilation should be expected in 2026. The original GTA 4 turned 17 this year – the game was first released in 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and then made it to PC.
