Rockstar Games sets Max Payne remake trailer release dates

Developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that all decisions regarding the advertising campaign and timing of the trailer publication for the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are within the purview of publisher Rockstar Games. During the discussion of the quarterly results, the studio’s CEO Tero Virtala emphasized that the project demonstrates significant progress in development, but issues related to announcements and promotion are entirely under the control of the publishing company.

Rockstar Games acts as a full publisher of the remakes, providing their funding and marketing strategy. Given the previously planned release of Grand Theft Auto VI in 2025 (now the game is set for release in May 2026), analysts suggest a possible delay in the announcement of updated versions of Max Payne until the active promotion phase of the new GTA project is completed. It is expected that the remakes themselves may be released in 2026, but the exact dates remain unknown due to the unpredictability of Rockstar’s marketing decisions.

Remedy Entertainment continues to work on the project, maintaining its status as an active development, but has declined to comment further on plans for release or specific announcement dates.
