Nintendo Unveils Switch 2: Specs, Games, and Release Date
- AYG -At the official presentation, Nintendo revealed details about the long-awaited Switch 2 console, including its technical features, new functions, a list of supported games, and the release date.
The new version of the device has significantly increased in size – the display diagonal has grown from 6.2 to 7.9 inches, but the thickness of the case has not changed and is 13.9 mm. In portable mode, the console will be able to output 1080p at 120 fps, and in the docking station – 4K at 60 fps. The internal memory has been expanded to 256 GB, which is an order of magnitude more than its predecessor.

The controllers have also received updates. In addition to the Joy-Con on magnets, which can now be used as a computer mouse, a full-fledged Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller gamepad is presented. It is made in the style of an Xbox gamepad, equipped with a pair of auxiliary rear paddles, a Jack port, and a dedicated chat key. The same button has been added to the right Joy-Con, allowing players to quickly connect to voice chat, find friends, or broadcast the screen if they have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. An interesting new feature is a special camera that allows you to transmit an image of the player’s face in cooperative titles – the accessory can be purchased separately.

The lineup of games at the start of sales promises to impress. Improved versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will receive improved visuals and an increased scan rate. Such significant titles as Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, NBA 2K, Civilization VII, Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars: Outlaws will also be released on the console. Later, they will be joined by Borderlands 4, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 and Project 007. The list of exclusives from Nintendo includes Mario Kart World and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom in the musou action genre.
The presentation also confirmed the release date of Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2025, and From Software announced a new project, The Duskbloods, which will likely be exclusive to the platform.

The start of sales of the device is scheduled for June 5, 2025. The price tag for the gadget at launch will be $450, and the bundle with Mario Kart World will cost $50 more.
