Nintendo Switch 2 to be released without traditional reviews – journalists did not receive the console for testing

Nintendo has made the unusual decision not to provide gaming publications and bloggers with pre-release samples of the new Switch 2 console ahead of its June 5 release. According to the authoritative publication VGC, this is due to the lack of several key features in the pre-release version of the device, which will not appear until the release of the first day patch.

This strategy means that buyers will not be able to get professional assessments of performance, battery life, the quality of game ports, or the operation of important system functions (like voice chat and backward compatibility) until the console goes on sale. Nintendo is traditionally distinguished by a cautious approach to pre-release coverage of its products, but the complete refusal to provide devices for reviews was an unexpected move even for the Japanese giant.

The lack of preliminary materials will deprive potential buyers of the opportunity to evaluate key features of the new platform before making a purchase. Official Nintendo representatives have not yet commented on the reasons for this decision and did not specify which features will appear on the console only after the release day.
