Nintendo Announces Switch 2, Shows It Off in Trailer

Nintendo has officially unveiled the next generation of its gaming console, posting a two-minute video demonstrating the updated design of the device and its key features.

The Switch 2 features a larger display, controllers with electromagnetic attachment, two USB Type-C ports, and an improved stand for ease of use. The rumor about new joycons, which can now be used as a mouse, has also been confirmed, adding flexibility to the controls.

The device is made in a minimalist black color, with red and blue accents on the “hats” of the sticks and the inside of the joycons. The video also showed gameplay from the latest part of the racing arcade Mario Kart and emphasized the support for backward compatibility with cartridges from the original Switch. However, not all old games will launch with the future gaming platform.

Nintendo announced an upcoming Nintendo Direct event scheduled for April 2, where they will tell more details about the Switch 2, its titles, and other innovations. In addition, events will be held in April in key cities around the world where you can try out the console.

Switch 2 sales will begin in 2025.
