Monster Hunter Wilds Sees Plummeting Ratings and Online Viewership
- AYG -Despite an impressive start, with Monster Hunter Wilds reaching nearly 1.5 million concurrent players online, the game quickly lost popularity. Over the past month, the project’s user rating on Steam has fallen to a disastrous 18%, receiving the status of “extremely negative” reviews, and the overall rating has dropped to 59%.

The main complaints of players are related to the lack of content and the lack of fixes for performance issues. Even seasonal events and collaborations, such as the crossover with Street Fighter VI, were unable to retain the audience – according to many, they offered only short-term entertainment without depth. Paradoxically, some critics who left negative reviews spent dozens of hours in the game, which only highlights the gap between expectations and the actual content of the project.
Amid the decline in reputation, the online audience of Monster Hunter Wilds has decreased to 16,900 players, losing even to the seven-year-old Monster Hunter World, where more than 26 thousand people play simultaneously. The steep decline casts doubt on the game’s chances of winning the Game of the Year award, despite the initial buzz and strong sales. The developers will need to respond quickly to the criticism if they want to regain the trust of the series’ fans.
