Marvel Rivals Developers Announce Balance Changes Following Scandal

The NetEase Games team announced upcoming balance adjustments in Marvel Rivals, partially provoked by the fresh scandal around the role of support heroes. In the next update, the developers will strengthen strategists and weaken some tanks to correct the imbalance that arose after the changes of the 2nd season.

In the official statement, the studio admitted that the current mechanics make support heroes too vulnerable. The original idea was that other team members would cover strategists during healing, but in practice this system turned out to be ineffective. As a result, some support characters became unpopular among players.

According to the developers’ plans, the new patch will increase the damage of certain strategist characters to make them more independent in battle. At the same time, the health points of some tanks will be reduced, including Groot and Captain America, who in their current state demonstrate excessive survivability. In addition, the patch will affect the algorithms for calculating the effectiveness of the competitive mode. NetEase emphasizes that these are the first steps towards balance, and that larger changes will follow between seasons so as not to disrupt the current gameplay.
