GTA: Vice City Nextgen Edition Released: GTA IV Engine Remaster Resists Take-Two Pressure
- AYG -Despite Take-Two’s strict policy of protecting its intellectual property, GTA: Vice City Nextgen Edition was released – a fan remaster that transfers the cult game to the GTA IV engine. This project, created by Russian enthusiasts, includes a full set of content from the original Vice City: all missions, cutscenes, radio stations and the atmosphere of the cult action movie.
However, the path to the release was not easy. A few days before the release, Take-Two began active actions aimed at blocking the project. Without warning, the company deleted the authors’ official YouTube channel, and now will probably focus on finding and removing the remaster itself from the Internet.
In response, the developers made a radical decision: instead of a version requiring the original game, they released a completely independent installation kit. To use it, you do not need to check the license or install additional programs, which allows the project to remain available despite threats from copyright holders.
The authors noted that these few days were emotionally difficult, as the original plan was to have a release with a festive stream and an emphasis on the community. However, the project was released on the promised date. How long it will stay online remains a mystery, but the developers do not object to its distribution in alternative ways, leaving the decision to the discretion of the players.
