GTA 4 Celebrates 17th Anniversary: Developer Reminisces
- AYG -Today, April 29, marks exactly 17 years since the release of the cult Grand Theft Auto IV on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The PC version of the game appeared later – in December 2008. In honor of this event, fans around the world are sharing memories of their first impressions of the project, which was revolutionary for its time.

Former Rockstar Games employee Obbe Vermeil, who participated in the creation of GTA IV, shared interesting details about the development. According to him, the studio sought to create a truly “new generation” of games, where missions were designed for the first time specifically for the story, and not vice versa. Vermeil also noted that the release was initially scheduled for October 16, 2007, for the Christmas and New Year holidays, but in the summer of that year, a decision was made to postpone it.

The developer drew a parallel with the upcoming release of GTA 6, suggesting that when postponing the release date of the new project, the decision could be made according to a similar scenario. At the same time, Vermeil emphasized that this is only his personal opinion, and he does not have access to current information about the development of the sixth part.
