Gears of War 2 Remaster Was In Development, But Was Cancelled

After the release of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition in 2015, The Coalition began working on a remaster of GoW 2, but the project was later closed.

The existence of the cancelled version was revealed by Ayagaur Sanchez, an artist for The Coalition, who posted art developed for the project on social networks. According to him, the work was done about ten years ago, but eventually the development was curtailed.

Sanchez did not specify the reasons for the cancellation, but noted that his concept art was used in tests for a potential remaster.

Earlier, rumors appeared on the Internet about the Gears of War Collection, which supposedly should include updated versions of the first three games in the series, but there is no official confirmation yet.
