Epic Games Softens Punishment for Cheaters in Fortnite

The developers of the battle royale have revised their policy for combating unfair play. If previously users caught using cheats were permanently banned, now the punishment will be limited to a one-year ban.

Despite the ban, violators will retain access to the game – they will be able to log into the client and use the chat, but matchmaking, custom maps and spectator mode will remain unavailable. In addition, Epic Games will lift lifetime bans imposed more than a year ago, which will allow previously banned players to return to the game.

However, these concessions do not apply to tournaments. Professional gamers will still face a lifetime ban from participating in competitions, as well as the loss of all prize money if they are caught using prohibited software.
