Dodge has decided to discontinue the basic electric version of the Charger Daytona R/T just four months after the start of sales. The 2026 model will leave the assembly line due to extremely low consumer interest and increased trade tariffs, which have negatively affected the price competitiveness of the electric car.

Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Electric Car Discontinued Due to Lack of Demand

According to the manufacturer, about 3,500 unsold Charger Daytona R/T units have accumulated in dealer warehouses, which indicates the reluctance of the brand’s traditional audience to switch to electric traction. At the same time, Dodge will continue to produce a more powerful Scat Pack modification with a dual-motor installation with 670 hp, and also plans to introduce a 4-door version of the electric car next year. In parallel, the company is preparing to release gasoline Charger Sixpack with a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine.

This situation clearly demonstrates the difficulties of the transition of automakers with a rich heritage of gasoline models to electric transformation. While Dodge muscle car fans clearly prefer traditional powertrains, the electric Charger has failed to find a buyer even among the brand’s progressive audience.
