Digital Foundry: GTA 5 Enhanced Could Have Become a Testing Ground for GTA 6 Tech
- AYG -Experts suggest that the updated version of GTA 5 Enhanced could have been used by Rockstar to test technological solutions that will appear in GTA 6. Experts also believe that the new part of the series on consoles will retain the 30 FPS limit.
One of the key improvements of GTA 5 Enhanced was global illumination with ray tracing (RTGI), which significantly improved the quality of graphics. According to the test results, Rockstar was able to optimize the game well: on RTX 4060 at a resolution of 1440p, with maximum settings and DLSS 3, the project demonstrates a stable 60 FPS, even with dense traffic on the map. Analysts note that this performance indicates possible testing of RTGI for GTA 6. Otherwise, it is difficult to explain why the authors worked out the graphics in such detail in a game ten years ago.
Despite this, Digital Foundry does not expect GTA 6 to run at 60 FPS on consoles, as the new lighting system puts a significant strain on the processor. The crime action game is expected to be released in the fall of 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
