Glen Schofield, the creator of the cult Dead Space, has once again expressed his desire to return to the franchise that brought him worldwide fame. In a recent Dan Allen Gaming podcast, the developer shared that in 2024 he offered EA to create a fourth part of the franchise. The offer came on the wave of success of the remake of the first part, released earlier this year. However, the studio rejected the idea, only briefly promising to “call back”.

The failure in negotiations with EA was another disappointment for Schofield. Earlier this year, publisher Krafton declared his latest project The Callisto Protocol a failure. The game, which cost around $200 million to create, faced criticism for its weak gameplay core and did not live up to the expectations of both developers and investors.

Despite the difficulties, Dead Space remains one of the most iconic horror game series, and the remake of the original demonstrated that gamers’ interest in it is still high. However, the future of the franchise is in the hands of EA, and the company is in no hurry to announce a sequel.
