Cyberpunk 2077 2 Won’t Be Released Before End of Decade – CDPR CEO Says
- AYG -CD Projekt Red CEO Michał Nowakowski shared his forecast for the production timeline of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel during the Q1 2025 financial report. According to him, the studio usually needs four to five years to complete a project after entering the pre-production stage, which means that the game could be released only in the late 2020s.

Nowakowski emphasized the uniqueness of each project and the many variables that affect the development process, declining to give specific dates. The game, formerly known as Project Orion, is currently in the early stages of preparation. Interestingly, according to information from Michael Pondsmith, the creator of the original Cyberpunk 2020 board game, another metropolis may appear in the second, although there has been no official confirmation of this detail from CDPR yet.
This statement came amid the active development of The Witcher 4, which demonstrates the ambitious plans of the Polish studio to work on two major franchises in parallel. Cyberpunk fans are likely to have a long wait ahead for the sequel to the cult RPG.
