ChatGPT Launched on iPhone 3GS — AI Adapted for Old Apple Devices

A German enthusiast with the pseudonym bag.xml presented an unofficial version of the ChatGPT client that works on outdated iPhone models. The new application turned out to be compatible even with the iPhone 3GS and other gadgets running iOS 6, 7 and 8 — which makes it a unique solution for owners of retro Apple devices.

The official ChatGPT client requires iOS 17 and newer, but the enthusiast optimized his application for the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and 5. It supports key functions of the neural network, including the history of dialogues, image generation and the ability to attach photos to requests. At the same time, authorization is implemented only through an API key from OpenAI — the usual login system is missing.

Due to platform restrictions, it was not possible to place the program in the App Store, but the source code and the compiled IPA file are available for free download on GitHub and the official website of the developer. The client is distributed free of charge, but for full operation an active subscription to the OpenAI service is required.
