Apple plans to compensate for the weak battery life of the iPhone 17 Air with a special case

According to The Information, based on the company’s internal tests, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air may face battery life issues. Prototypes of the device demonstrate the ability to work during the day without recharging only in 60-70% of cases, which is significantly lower than the current iPhone models with their 80-90% success rate.

To solve this problem, Apple is considering the possibility of releasing a proprietary case with a built-in battery. This concept is not new for the company – in 2015, a similar accessory was introduced for the iPhone 6, and in 2021, the MagSafe Battery Pack appeared.

Apple’s production plans indicate subdued expectations regarding demand for the iPhone 17 Air – only about 10% of the total production capacity reserved for the entire iPhone 17 lineup has been allocated to this model. The technical characteristics of the device, according to sources, include one speaker, a single main camera, and no slot for a physical SIM card. The official presentation of the iPhone 17 Air is expected to take place in September 2025.
