Apple is preparing to release an updated version of the MagSafe wireless charger, as evidenced by data found in the database of the Taiwanese regulator NCC. The documents include two models – A3502 and A3503, which will be the first Apple accessories with official support for the Qi 2.2 standard. This protocol provides faster charging, improved magnetic alignment and increased energy efficiency compared to previous versions.

The main difference between the models is the cable length: A3502 is equipped with a meter-long cable, and A3503 – with a two-meter cable. Both options are braided and equipped with a USB-C connector. According to the technical specifications, the charger is capable of delivering up to 45 W (15 V × 3 A) when using a compatible adapter with USB Power Delivery support. The diameter of the charging pad is about 100 mm.

The new MagSafe devices retain backward compatibility with previous Qi and Qi 2 standards, and also have an improved magnetic fixation system. Testing was conducted on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 16, which confirms broad compatibility with different generations of smartphones. The release of the updated chargers is expected to take place in the fall along with the presentation of the iPhone 17.

The Qi 2.2 standard not only increases the maximum wireless charging power to 50 W, but also reduces heating, improves energy transfer efficiency and ensures cross-brand compatibility. This means that accessories that comply with the new standard will be able to work with devices from different manufacturers without losing functionality.
