Anbernic Announces RG 557 Portable Console with AMOLED Display and PS2 Emulation Support
- AYG -Anbernic has unveiled a new portable gaming console, the RG 557, featuring a bright 5.48-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The screen supports touch input and provides high image clarity, suitable for emulating games from consoles originally designed for widescreen displays.

Although the exact technical parameters of the device have not yet been disclosed, the demonstrated capabilities indicate high performance. In the presentation video, you can see how projects for Wii U, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Vita work stably on the console. In particular, Shadow of the Colossus and Borderlands 2 were launched with increased resolution. According to rumors, the RG 557 is based on the Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 chipset, supplemented by 8 GB of RAM, which provides not only high-quality emulation, but also the ability to stream heavy AAA games.

Externally, the new product has retained the recognizable style of Anbernic: analog sticks with RGB backlighting, stereo speakers on the back panel and ergonomic handles for a comfortable grip during long gaming sessions. However, questions remain about the software. Previously, the Android shell from Anbernic was criticized for confusing navigation, and it is not yet known whether these shortcomings were corrected in the new model.

Among the expected characteristics are at least 128 GB of internal memory and a 5000 mAh battery. The release date and cost have not yet been announced, but experts suggest that the price will vary between $200-250, which makes the device a direct competitor in the mid-range segment of portable gaming systems. More accurate estimates can be given after the release of the final version and the first reviews.
