Amazon’s Lara Croft Project Faces Difficulty, Filming Delayed Indefinitely
- AYG -The production of the series about the famous Tomb Raider from Amazon Prime Video is under threat. According to the Daily Mail, the project is in limbo: according to some sources, it was cancelled, according to others, it was simply suspended without specifying the dates. It was initially assumed that filming would begin in 2025, but the script for the show is still not ready.
According to Puck, work on the project has already cost Amazon several million dollars. Additional difficulties are caused by the recent departure of the head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke, who oversaw the series and approved it for production.

Famous writers Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who received recognition for Fleabag and Killing Eve, and Megan McDonnell, who participated in the development of WandaVision and Captain Marvel 2, are working on the script for the series. In November 2024, information appeared in the press that the main contender for the lead role is Sophie Turner, known for Game of Thrones and the X-Men franchise.
In parallel with the series, Amazon Games is the publisher of a new game from the Tomb Raider series, developed by Crystal Dynamics, but details about the project have not yet been disclosed.
